Decommissioning Equipment Design

Following on previous successes of adopting a fully integrated Project Team approach, Assystem were employed by British Nuclear Group to adopt similar methods on the multi million pound Capenhurst Integrated Decommissioning Project. The scope of the Project was to design and supply all Plant, Equipment and associated services for the Inspection, Re-packaging, Size reduction, Waste management and ultimate disposal of HEU and LEU contaminated materials.

All mechanical aspects of the Project were undertaken by Assystem, with the Assystem Project Manager working directly with the BNG Project and Engineering Managers.

Assystem involvement included all concept design, detail design, liaison with all disciplines including S & ERM and Client, all documentation to support design, manufacture, installation and commissioning, including all Risk Assessments and Technical Files to support facility CE marking.

All work was performed in accordance with BNFL, IMS, A6 and A7 procedures.
